  1. Jon Woodland (verified owner) –

I originally purchased a pair of Lulu Tube mics on advice from a friend. They just sounded wonderful on accoustic instruments such as guitar, mandolin, and autoharp. I really wanted to try them as drum overheads to replace my M-Audio Pulsar pencil condensors. However my studio is wired with XLR in the ceiling for the overheads, so it was impractical to mount the tube power supplies at the ceiling and somehow get power up to them.

Enter the Lulu FET matched pair. I ordered these late in 2024, but unfortunately one had a defect causing noise. Beesneez quickly resolved the issue, but then Canada Post was on strike and I had to wait another month for my new pair. I’ve been using these as my drum overheads ever since.

Like the Lulu tube mics, the FET version is incredibly clear and crisp. There is a slightly faster transient response which works well on drums. They are maybe a bit more forward than the Lulu tubes, but I haven’t done a direct shootout on the same source. Either way, both versions of the Lulu mics are fantastic sounding and well worth the price.

You can check out the Lulu tubes and Oliver mics in a live off the floor recording of the folk group The Ranters on my Youtube channel here: https://youtu.be/ZUlA46_3prg?si=rACsDZrJi7xsk2mf&t=287

  2. BC –

I’ve been using a pair of Lulu FET’s for four years now. They offer a natural yet brilliant capture that needs such little processing. They’re a mainstay on drum overheads and acoustics. I don’t ever need to do much EQ’ing after the fact. I’ve even tried them on vocals and guitar amps and with some proper positioning and gain staging can work quite well.

These have got me interested in the Lulu Tube’s… so many BeesNeez mics so little cash xD

  3. Robert Smith –

I have had these for years and for a handful of those, they sat in the box – just didn’t need them. Now, i am recording a lot of live albums and use them extensively on overheads. Back home to mix, I start with 3db top added on the master bus and I NEVER have to adjust the LuLu’s. I may scoop low mids a bit but they provide lots of detail without any hardness in the top end. they always sound balanced and beautiful. I never have to de-ess them or adjust the top to fit. However, they take EQ very well and if i want that crispy pop top end, they will take it and do that without harshness. You cannot beat them and they work for different styles.

  4. Jackson Adams (verified owner) –

Besides not receiving a single return email into my enquires about buying these mics, the microphones are INCREDIBLE. Absolutely the best microphone purchase out of my collection. They capture acoustic instruments in a true way, the low end feels controlled and the highs are not hyped. I said, I did not receive any communication from Veronica and Ben which I found discouraging as I did send multiple emails and messages to Facebook with NO response… even 3-4 months later after purchasing. I would still very highly recommend Beesneez to everyone I meet as they make incredible quality microphones. 10/10, the only SDC you will ever need.

  5. Peter Kennard –

dont know why I haven’t reviewed earlier….. Have been using these fabulous mics in many situations for 2 years now – drum kit overheads, acoustic guitar and lately as Blumlein stereo pair inside a Steinway grand (alongside 2 x AKG U BLS 414s in room) The Lulu’s shine in all circumstances. Not significantly coloured, ( at least certainly none of that 5k brittleness of certain well known competitors in this style of mic) – I usually team these with my Dave Peach pre amps for an incredibly detailed and “REAL” sound – but recorded the Steinway through an older MOTU 828 MkII getting a coherent solid fabulously even sound across the piano’s range………..At the current “sale” price for a pair I would say don’t hesitate. Pretty much my “go to” acoustic instrument mic in my studio now. Currently lobbying owner of aforementioned Steinway to buy her own ;-)

  6. Paul Gardoz –

After extensive research, I decide to purchase a pair of Beesneez Lulu FET small condenser microphones for drum overheads. I was pleasantly surprised as to how detailed and composed over a broad frequency spectrum these microphones were. There is a depth and character that suits drums and cymbals with perfect balance. I am more than happy to highly recommend these microphones to anyone looking for a higher quality sound over their existing equipment. If the measure of a man is quantified by what he produces, then Ben Sneesby is to regarded within the highest echelon of audio engineers.

  7. Neil Pike –

These are really beautiful mics. I’ve used mine extensively as both a stereo pair on acoustic guitar and as drum overheads. I’m extremely happy with the results.

  8. Ivan F. –

Amazing customer service. Order was shipped same day it was placed. Australia to NYC in 5 business days, I’ve waited longer for shipments from the midwestern United States. The Lulu’s are superb on drums!

  9. Atelje S. –

Truly great microphones. Thank you Ben & Veronica.

  10. Sean M. –

Great mics! Fast shipment! Great seller! Five stars!

  11. Robert L. –

Thank you for the suggestion to consider these microphones for acoustic guitar. They bring forward the rich detail present in a fine instrument in a beautifully musical way.
