The BeesNeez Pro Audio Story

Ben Sneesby’s extensive career in the audio industry began in 1992, where he gained essential skills through his first recording studio internship. In 2001, BeesNeez was established, encompassing a range of operations, including a recording studio, studio equipment repair service, and the design of modern recording equipment. Over time, more attention was devoted to repair and design. In 2005, the main studio was closed, and BeesNeez moved to a larger facility in Collins Creek, NSW, with the dedicated focus on repairing and designing world-class microphones.

Today, BeesNeez Pro Audio is a family business, with Ben’s wife, Veronica, joining the team as Director of Operations in 2007. Furthermore, both of Ben and Veronica’s daughters, Arabella and Elizabeth, contribute to the manufacturing process within the factory. This combined effort ensures a genuine passion for producing products of the highest quality.

How is BeesNeez different?

A microphone is more than just a product. It is a carefully engineered instrument made up of many components: the capsule, transformer, amplification/impedance conversion circuit, grille, body, and internal framework. While most microphone companies purchase and assemble these parts, BeesNeez Pro Audio is different.

Since 2005, we have been manufacturing these components in-house, producing hundreds of thousands of precision-engineered parts. From machining capsule backplates from solid brass to hand-laying grille mesh and winding our own transformers, we control every step of the process. This not only allows us to sculpt the sound with absolute precision but also frees us from supply chain constraints that impact so many other manufacturers.

Unlike companies that rely on lengthy pre-order models, when you order a BeesNeez microphone, you won’t be left waiting for months. Your microphone will be delivered promptly, ensuring you can focus on what matters—capturing incredible sound.

Every BeesNeez microphone is a testament to our expertise, designed by Founder and CEO Ben Sneesby. Our microphones pay homage to the legendary studio mics of the past while incorporating the best of modern materials and machining.

Housed in a custom-built body that provides superior shielding for low-noise operation, each microphone capsule is crafted from premium-grade brass and bronze, with diaphragms made from either sputtered Mylar or insulated aluminium. Our proprietary diaphragm coatings—ARPTAU, ARALPT, and ARALAU—are the result of extensive research and development, ensuring exceptional performance and longevity.
